Chroma BIPOC Art Space Coordinator (Part-Time Contract)

The purpose of the coordinator is to facilitate communication between Chroma Collective and CARFAC Manitoba and Artspace while supporting the activities of Chroma Studios. The position will serve as the space’s liaison between these groups as well as visiting artists and guests. They will communicate between parties to ensure the appropriate usage of the space. They will primarily take direction from Chroma Collective and will report to the CARFAC Manitoba board of directors.

  • Term of contract is 16 weeks (4 months) at 8 hours / week with a possibility to extend if fundraising allows.
  • Work compensated at a wage of $17/hour

Duties:

  • Respond to phone, email, and mail traffic
  • Assist visitors and guests with any questions
  • Assist in set-ups and tear-downs of any events held in the space
  • Ensure the space is clean between events
  • Maintaining and organizing the schedule of the space
  • Coordinating with Artspace for distribution of key access to building and room
  • Assisting with the social media for the space including events and fundraising

Responsibilities:

  • Record and documents any incidents that occur in the space
  • Direct messages appropriately to the Chroma Collective
  • Assist in research as directed by Chroma Collective
  • Attend Chroma meetings as directed by Chroma Collective

Conditions:

  • Tasks are subject to change based on current projects in the space and may fall outside of the current job description. Anything that is asked of coordinator that fall outside of this can be discussed and reviewed with the collective
  • The space is located in the Artspace building at 100 Arthur Street in the Exchange District in downtown.
  • It is important that the coordinator is able to positively work with community in and out of the space while representing Chroma
  • The duties and responsibilities of the coordinator are subject to discussion between them and Chroma Collective to fit the needs of the space and its users
  • May need to work evenings and weekends on occasion
  • Access to own computer and cell phone. CARFAC MB is not able to provide a computer or phone at this time.

Experience Preferred:

We will not ask to provide you with any documents of certification, but if you wish to attach them to your application feel free.

  • Base understanding of admin software (ex. Microsoft office or Google Drive)
  • Engagement with arts community at any level
  • Engagement with community development at any level
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Experience with Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently
